The Quiet Man Statue

In honour of the film and its cast, Cong unveiled a specially commissioned bronze statue of the movies characters Sean Thornton and Mary Kate Danaher at the 2013 Festival. The statue is located adjacent to the Abbey Ruins.

 

 

The Quiet Man

In 1951 John Ford's greatest movie "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald was made, it was set in the beautiful village of Cong. Today you can visit scenes from the film such as the dying man's house, Pat Cohan's Bar, the river fight scene, 'hats in the air' scene, Rev. Playfairs house,Squire Danahers House and many more.

 

 

The Quiet Man Museum

Located in the village, the museum is a must for all Quiet Man enthusiasts. The ground floor of the cottage has been designed as an exact replica of ‘White-o-Mornin’ Cottage. Tours available.
